THE STORY OF
TEQUILA

Every bottle of real tequila begins long before it is poured into a glass. It starts in the fields of Mexico, where the blue agave plant grows slowly under the sun for years before it is ready to be harvested.

Unlike many other spirits, tequila cannot simply be produced anywhere in the world. Authentic tequila is deeply tied to Mexico — its climate, soil,
tradition, and craftsmanship. At the center of it all is the blue agave plant, a plant that takes patience to cultivate and years to mature properly.

For around 6 to 8 years, the agave grows in the fields, storing natural sugars inside its core. During this time, experienced farmers carefully monitor the plants as they slowly develop flavor and character. When the agave reaches peak maturity, skilled harvesters known as jimadores begin the harvesting process by hand.

Using a traditional round blade called a coa, the jimador cuts away the long sharp leaves of the agave plant until only its heart remains. This heart is called the piña, named after its resemblance to a pineapple.

The piñas are then transported to the distillery, where they are slowly cooked. This is one of the most important stages of tequila production. Cooking transforms the agave’s natural starches into fermentable sugars, creating the foundation for the spirit’s flavor.

After cooking, the softened agave is crushed to extract its juice. Traditionally this was done using large stone wheels, while modern distilleries often use mechanical rollers. The extracted juice is then fermented, where yeast converts the natural sugars into alcohol.

The liquid is then distilled — often twice — to refine and purify the spirit while preserving the character of the agave. The result is tequila: a spirit shaped by nature, time, and craftsmanship.
Not all tequila is made the same way.

Some products use added sugars and shortcuts during production. But 100% agave tequila is different. It is made entirely from the natural sugars of the agave plant, creating a cleaner, smoother, and more authentic drinking experience.

That commitment to purity and craftsmanship is what makes tequila more than just a spirit — it is a product with history, origin, and tradition in every step of the process.
